LEO
Y2D Productions / Canada
in association with Chamäleon Productions / Germany
What would happen if the law of gravity were to suddenly change?
LEO is a mind-bending, funny, surreal, and surprisingly touching theater work that challenges the senses and tests perceptions of reality through the clever interplay of live performance and high tech video projection.
Universally appealing to adults and children, LEO leaves audience members wondering which way is up and which way is down. Winner of many major awards including the Carol Tambor Best of Edinburgh Award, the Three Weeks Editors Award and the Scotsman Fringe First Award, LEO has dazzled audiences and critics in New York, Berlin, Montreal, London, Moscow, Shanghai, Hong Kong, Seoul, Sydney, Auckland, Copenhagen, São Paulo, and cities all around the world.
“Gravity-defying spectacle.” The New York Times
“LEO is an eye-teasing, grin-inducing, deeply impressive work
of sustained absurdist magic.”—Time Out New York
“It’s unusual to hear so many child-like gasps of sheer delighted astonishment in a theater.
LEO is a little eye candy for the jaded gaze.” The Village Voice
“Brilliant, funny, and sweet” The Boston Globe
Duration: 65 minutes Audience: Ages 8 to 108
Venue suitability: The stage is required to be at least 10m wide x 5m deep (33 feet wide x 16.4 feet deep) and a minimum height clearance of 5m (16.4 feet) . If it is a Proscenium Stage the opening must be a minimum 10m wide x 5m high (33 wide x 16.4 feet high) . The stage must be 100% level (i.e. no raked stages and/or pits that may cause uneven surfaces). End-on seating is required. Video plays a critical role in LEO. The company travels with its own video equipment. It will need to hang both a camera and video projector which provide a live feed for the show in very precise locations in relationship to the stage.
